Zwartgoed

— Zutphen

Our installation for the Lage Landen Exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Zutphen was inspired by the local potter, Lodewijk Taminiau (1808-1878), who used the dark clay of the area and a special black glaze to make his signature Blackware: dark ceramics that were popular in the coffee and tea culture of its time. Through experimentation, we tried to recreate his lost recipe and create our own ceramics from the same clay he used 200 years ago. The installation at the Stedelijk Museum Zutphen showed our process and the results that connect traditional crafts with modern design.
