Vase Monte Azul
2008 | Atelier NL
Monte Azul is a favela on the outskirts of Sao Paolo, Brazil.
It is where the vases were conceived and designed, and where
they are manufactured, in an effort to boost salability for the
local woodworkers.
When in Monte Azul one finds out that there is more to waste
than simply garbage to be disposed of. It actually provides
people with re-usable and
re-salable material.
Their handling of resources was very stimulating and played
a major part in the forming of the project.Empty, colorful,
plastic detergent bottles, retrieved from waste by local
collectors, used as the waterproof core of wooden vases
manufactured by local woodworkers.
